Grand Island Casino permanent facility construction remains on schedule

Progress continues on the Grand Island Casino permanent facility. The $100 million project broke ground in November 2023 and continues to move swiftly with construction. There are around 150 construction workers on site. Most of the exterior is complete.

Grand Island Casino General Manager Vince Fiala said weather has been their biggest challenge.

“When the building wasn’t enclosed, you know, or didn’t have the roof on and stuff, we got a lot of water down in the lower level and that had to be dried out before some of the cement can be poured,” said Fiala.

Fiala said other than losing a few days due to weather, everything has been going well. Unlike many construction projects, they haven’t experienced supply-chain issues.

With State Fair being approximately two months away and construction continuing throughout this year, Fiala said parking could be a challenge but something that’s being figured out.

“The biggest issue, I think, this year for State Fair is going to be parking and we’re going to have to rearrange some of the stuff but the State Fair is planning that,” said Fiala. “There’s people from Fonner that are on that. We’ve added some parking spaces here on the property took us some of the grass and poured down some cement so we can hopefully have enough parking.”

Nebraska State Fair Marketing Director Courtney Glock said they are working very closely with Fonner Park and the casino to ensure a smooth transition through their events this year.

She said with stalls eliminated by the new casino, the primary change will be a small shift of the carnival and some vendor parking.

Glock added that ADA parking will still exist, closer than previous years and general parking for fair guests will be left unchanged.

As for employees of Grand Island Casino, Fiala said they will likely be shuttled back and forth to work. There will be designated parking spots for the casino rtp jkt303 hari ini and keno.

Grand Island Casino has approximately 175 employees, that number will only increase when the permanent facility opens.

“We’re looking to hire another 175 to 200 employees or so; Most of those will be food and beverage, ” Fiala said. “We’ll have a hotel so we’ll have hotel-and-housekeeping staff. We’ll have a full facility staff, we’ll have a spa. It’s just going to be a lot of additional positions that we don’t have now.”
Fiala said those additions would put them with a total staff between 350 to 400 people.
